Our big plans for 2025!
We have some big plans for 2025 that we're excited to share with you as we work towards making 2025 the biggest and most impactful year yet for Pacific Kelp Co.!

Processing:
We are excited to announce that we have begun moving equipment into our brand-new processing facility in Ketchikan, with even more equipment on the way! Our goal is to achieve a daily processing capacity of 1,000 kg of kelp by the end of March. This will significantly enhance the kelp production capabilities for not only ourselves but for all of Southeastern Alaska.
This year, our primary focus is on producing high-quality liquid kelp extracts for both the agricultural and cosmetic markets. We've invested in cutting-edge technology that enables us to extract all the beneficial compounds from kelp without the use of harsh chemicals, ensuring the sustainability and effectiveness of our products.
Farming:
With our permits now secured, we are progressing with plans to construct and install our first kelp farm by the end of this summer. We are collaborating closely with our engineering partners to gather crucial oceanographic data, finalize farm designs, and order essential components such as anchors and grow lines.
Our main focus is on cultivating macrocystis pyrifera, also known as Alaskan Giant Kelp. However, we may also experiment with other kelp species over time as we learn more about our customers' preferences and demands.

Products:
In 2025, we made the strategic decision to prioritize the launch of our liquid kelp extract products. This includes our innovative kelp-based biofertilizer, which we have developed specifically for the agricultural market. Our biofertilizer is designed to help plants manage stress responses while improving farmer economics by reducing reliance on traditional fertilizers and other inputs.
Additionally, we are working to bring our kelp-based cosmetic products to market this summer, starting with the Ketchikan retail market. We believe these products will appeal to consumers seeking natural and sustainable skincare solutions that are locally sourced and produced in Alaska. Nick and John have been using these products daily for the last few months and have seen great results!
